DODANE TYPE 21 MILITARY WATCH TROPICAL DIAL WITH FLYBACK COMPLICATION

This Vintage and rare watch was born in France; created by Dodane and assembled in Switzerland, it was supplied to fighter pilots of the French “Air Force”. This special chronograph available at DEANGELIS Boutique, was expressly produced on technical needs of the French Ministry of Defense with the fly-back chrono function. The watch was in fact able to compensate for the failure of the on-board devices that were used by the pilot as a navigation tool. Maintaining their accuracy, these chronographs endured extreme demands in terms of acceleration, vibration, temperature variations and resistance to magnetic effects. Under official control of the French General Staff, the Dodane house developed the TYPE 21 chronograph from 1950. The Ministry of Defense imposed strict specifications for chronographs whose main feature was the “return in flight” Signing the caseback “FG” meant “Fin de Garantie” (warranty expiry) reported only on the models released for the armed forces and indicated the next service to which the watch was subjected to ensure excellent efficiency and reliability.
