ROLEX DAYTONA 16520 “ZENITH” BLACK DIAL COUNTERS TURNED TO BROWN
One of the most famous and iconic Rolex models is the Cosmograph Daytona. In 1963 Rolex launched the first Cosmograph model which marked the beginning of a must-have among collectors.
In 1988, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Daytona, Rolex launched the reference 16520 in stainless steel, along with the reference 16523 in two-tone steel and gold, plus the reference 16528 for yellow gold. By increasing the case size from 37.5mm to 39.0mm, the all-new Daytona collection served as a link to the modern era, for the first time physically transformed into something different from its predecessor. Having the first “perpetual” automatic movement (a term Rolex likes to attach to self-winding) in the Daytona family, the 4030 caliber of 16520 is based on Zenith's El Primero 400 movement. Requiring approximately four years of research and development, Rolex made a significant adaptation by replacing more than half of the parts, to improve the performance of this “engine”.
This second wrist Rolex Daytona reference 16520 has the following characteristics:
Stainless steel case and bracelet
Zenith movement
Black dial, subdials slightly turned to brown
Condition Never polished
