ROLEX DAYTONA PAUL NEWMAN 6264 PANDA DIAL AND BAKELITE BEZEL – RARE TRANSITIONAL REFERENCE – EXPERTISE CARLO PERGOLA
Rare steel chronograph, 37mm diameter, Ref. 6264 with PANDA dial.
At Rolex, 1970 was marked by the launch of two Cosmograph references: the 6262 with the silver bezel and the 6264 with the acrylic bezel. Very similar to the previous generation, these two references were equipped with the improved caliber 727. As often happens in production, the new reference was launched while spare parts for the previous one were still available, so some of the first models produced, such as the current, they use an exotic Paul Newman Panda dial. Both references were only produced for a few years and were the last Daytona references to feature pump pushers, with their screw-down counterparts (refs 6263 and 6265) quickly overtaking them in popularity.
This model features a “Panda” dial preserved in excellent condition and reference-correct with pump pushers. It is also accompanied by Expertise by Carlo Pergola.
