Founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, a small German town, A. Lange & Söhne (originally A. Lange & Cie) has always represented the excellence of Teutonic watchmaking.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the reunification of Germany, the Lange family decided to take back control of the company after it had closed in 1948. In 1990, Walter Lange, great-grandson of Ferdinand Adolph Lange, with the help of the already successful manager Günter Blümlein, re-established A. Lange & Söhne in Glashütte. The first watch collection released after the rebirth was presented in 1994 and included 4 models, including the famous Lange 1.

The reference 101.005, also known as the “Stealth”, was part of the original Lange 1 collection introduced at the company's relaunch, with its platinum case and rhodium-plated dial it offered a look monochrome that clearly differentiates itself from the gold versions with contrasting dials. Since then, the watch has remained a point of reference in the Maison's catalogues, evolving into the refs. 101.025 and 191.025, the latter still in production today.

Lange decided to accompany the second version of the “Stealth” with the “Darth”, a new dial configuration, recognisable by the reference number 101.035. The case is always in platinum while the dial, the counters and even the hour disc are in platinum. oversized dates they become completely black.

The two watches, seen side by side, appear to be the opposite of each other, creating a sense of symmetry and harmony within the catalogue: two concepts that have always been fundamental for the maison.

Produced from 1999 to 2006, the “Darth” is today one of the most collectible versions of the Lange 1 series thanks to its distinctive look total black: today exclusively reserved for the most special and important editions produced by the Maison.
