Reference 3940 was born in the now distant 1985 in a situation of pure crisis in Swiss watchmaking due to the advent of quartz movements. The Patek Philippe maison, like many others, found itself having to innovate many movements and complications to make them as current as possible for the time. This reference is the milestone of Patek Philippe watchmaking as it was the first highly complicated timepiece produced in series.
