Rolex Daytona 6262 Paul Newman Black Dial 'Musketeer' – Rare Transitional Reference
In Rolex history, 1970 is marked by the launch of two Cosmograph references: the 6262 with a metal bezel and the 6264 with a Bakelite bezel. Very similar to the previous generation, these two references were equipped with the improved calibre 727. As often happens in production, the new reference was launched while spare parts for the previous one were still available so some of the early models produced, like the current one, use an exotic “panda” dial nicknamed Paul Newman. Both references were only produced for a few years and were the last Daytona references to feature pump pushers with their screw-down counterparts (ref. 6263 and 6265) quickly overtaking them in popularity.
This rare Rolex Daytona reference 6262 is distinguished from other “Paul Newman” dials by the concentric circles missing from the outermost part of the counters. The combination of the limited production of this reference and this particular and rare dial configuration make this timepiece extremely rare and collectible.
The Rolex Daytona reference 6262 clock face Paul Newman “MUSKETEER “ boasts the following features:
Steel case and folded Oyster bracelet
Paul Newman “MUSKETEER” Dial
